Lisa R. Pieper, MD, MBA was a consultant in the life sciences practice of several global executive search firms, most recently as a Managing Director in a public company’s Life Sciences Practice, over the ten years prior to the formation of the current firm in March 2010. Earlier, Dr. Pieper practiced medicine for a decade, serving as a Medical Director and founder of the evidence-based medicine program at a large multi-specialty group practice during that period.
Lisa currently heads the Industry-Academia Task Force and is a member of the Executive Committee of the President’s Council of The Gladstone Institutes, a nonprofit biomedical research foundation based in San Francisco.
Dr. Pieper’s educational background includes an MD from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she subsequently completed residency training, leading to board certification in her field. She also holds an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Before entering executive search, Mary held senior-level positions in the Deloitte & Touche Management Consulting HealthCare Practice in Boston, the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and VHA Northeast. Her early career included more than five years as a critical care nurse clinician at the University of Virginia Medical Center, New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Mary previously served as a board member of MassMEDIC, over two consecutive terms between 2007-2013, as well as a board member for Wharton’s Health Care Management Program.
